At Dowen Estate Agents, we pride ourselves on delivering a remarkable 5 STAR ESTATE AGENCY SERVICE, driven by our dedicated team of property experts. Our passion for excellence originates from our founder, Denis Dowen, who established the business in 1982.

In 2020, long-standing employees John Nicholson and Trudie Bowes acquired the company. Since then, Dowen has undergone an exciting transformation—evolving from a traditional estate agency into a modern, forward-thinking business that embraces today’s latest technologies to innovate and enhance our services. Despite this progression, our core values and traditional ethics remain firmly at the heart of everything we do.

We now operate seven branches, along with our bespoke Auction Stores, providing comprehensive coverage across mid North East England—from the coast to the A1 corridor.

As a full-service estate agency, we offer a wide range of property-related solutions. Our residential sales department has sold tens of thousands of homes in all price ranges over the decades. We were also founding members of The Great North Property Auction, which has successfully facilitated thousands of sales since its launch in 2012.

Alongside sales, our lettings department manages hundreds of homes, and we offer private surveys and EPCs to corporate and private clients through our panel of independent surveyors. Conveyancing services are available at competitive rates via our network of local solicitors, and mortgages can be arranged through our independent mortgage broker panel.

We are proud members of the National Association of Estate Agents and The Property Ombudsman, ensuring we uphold the strict codes of professional practice required by these organisations.
