North Pennines Stargazing Festival

The North Pennines has some of the darkest skies in the country, making the area ideal for stargazing. Join experienced astronomer Richard Darn and friends for a spectacular two-night star camp under the North Pennines sky, the first ever event of its kind is perfect for novices and suitable for people aged 6 and over. The Gala Theatre: Halloween Horror Double Feature

A Nightmare on Elm Street – in Wes Craven’s classic slasher film, several Midwestern teenagers fall prey to Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), a disfigured midnight mangler who preys on the teenagers in their dreams, this in turn kills them in reality, after investigating the phenomenon. Durham Autumn Small Boats Head

A time trial on the River Wear over 1800 metre for rowers in small boats through the centre of Durham City, this takes in Elvet Bridge at the halfway point as well as the Durham round of the Long Distance Sculling Series. Click here to find out more.
